Binswanger's disease is a rare, progressive neurological disorder characterized by injuries (lesions) to the blood vessels supplying the deep white-matter of the brain. Affected individuals usually experience a gradual loss of memory, cognitive, and behavioral abilities, usually over a ten-year period. In some cases, symptoms and physical findings associated with Binswanger's disease may stabilize or improve for a brief time; however, in most cases, progression of the disorder usually returns.
